One of the largest planned industrial townships of Asia, Noida, is located in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, not very far from Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region. New Ohkla Industrial Development Authority, better known as Noida was set up in 1976.
Noida was created on the 17th of April which is now celebrated as Noida Day. The amenities and most recent technological developments have put Noida amongst the most modern cities of the country.
Noida is one of the prominent satellite cities or suburbs of Delhi and is also where a lot of international software and BPO companies are. Its proximity to the national capital has made Noida, along with Gurgaon and Faridabad, the preferred centre for many companies. There are numerous international schools in Noida. Amity Business School has its main campus in Noida.
Spread over 20,316 hectares, Noida is a well planned city and is divided into numerous sectors with smooth and wide roads and well developed parks.
The Noida Film City which also houses the offices of many news channels is in Noida. Due to its close proximity to Delhi, a lot of tourist destinations in Delhi can be visited from Noida. Some other attractions in and around Noida are the Noida Park, Rose garden, Kalindi Kunj, Akshardham Temple and Noida Golf Course. Noida is also a shopper's paradise; the Sector 18 market and Atta being the favourites.
The Indian Grand Prix, organised by the FIA Formula One World Championship, was currently held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, located about 20 km from Noida.
Noida is also connected by the Delhi Metro. Through the Delhi Metro, Noida is now connected with all the major parts of Delhi including Connaught Place, West Delhi, Old Delhi, South Delhi, Dwaraka and Vaishali. Delhi Metro also connects Noida with Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon.
Noida is only 12 km away from Connaught Place and is well connected with Delhi. The eight lane toll bridge across Yamuna connecting Maharani Bagh in Delhi to Noida has further reduced the distance, time and cost of commuting. The other main expressways connecting Noida to the other cities and thus reducing commuting time are the Noida Greater Noida Expressway which connects Noida with greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway which connects Noida to Agra via Mathura.
The State owned buses, UPSRTC and DTC, and a lot of private buses ply through the city. Chartered buses, autos and taxis are also available.
The nearest railway stations are Ghaziabad Railway Station and Anand Vihar Railway Station. New Delhi Railway Station, Nizammuddin Railway Station and Old Delhi Railway Station are the other railway stations. The nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
